[Bug 1557258] [NEW] random wifi hangs when transferring large files at high speeds using BCM4331 wifi
Public bug reported:
My system is: macbook pro retina late 2012 with BCM4331 wifi card
OS: ubuntu 15.10
driver version: 6.30.223.248+bdcom-0ubuntu7
When transferring large files over wifi using the BCM4331 the wifi hangs
randomly. echo 1 > reset in /sys... hangs the system. I tried using the
hybrid-v35_64-nodebug-pcoem-6_30_223_271.tar.gz from the Broadcom site,
but the result is the same. This does not seem to be a hardware bug, as
in MacOS I cannot replicate the problem. When this happens, the system
is operational. No kernel panics or other information in logs. iwlist
wlan0 scan reports device busy. rmmod wl hangs the system. When
transfering over smb on low speed (about 10MB/s) the hangs are appearing
less often. However, over NFS (reading) with 30-40 MB/s this happens
after less than 1 minute of the transfer.
