Would it be possible for you to test the first 4.4 based Xenial kernel.
We can perform a kernel bisect if we can find the last good kernel
version and the first bad one.  The first Xenial kernel can be
downloaded from:

https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/4.4.0-1.15/+build/8880824

With this kernel, you need to install both the linux-image and linux-
image-extra .deb packages.

Title:
  Freeze at login page

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  After updating from wily to xenial (beta 1 and following updates) the
  screen freezes at login as soon as the lightdm splash comes up.

  Switching to the console and logging in, I was able to capture the
  dmesg output, which shows an OOPS in the drm module.

  This happens with all 4.4.0 kernel I've tried so far. Booting with
  4.2.0-34-generic (from wily) works fine.
