[Bug 1553427] Re: [LENOVO S10-3] suspend/resume failure
I will provide the information you ask for but please be respectful to
the users of Ubuntu that don't know what you are even talking about when
you say the word kernel. We MUST foster an Ubuntu attitude for noobs so
they WANT to follow pages of wiki's to answer something they don't
understand. As described in the "Ubuntu Code of Conduct".
Jonathan Duff:
>"The wiki says, "While booted into the latest non-daily mainline kernel"...It can be misunderstood as, "not a daily mainline kernel"."
Christopher M. Penalver (penalvch):
>The wiki wording, and "not a daily mainline kernel" are the same meaning.
> So, there wouldn't be a misunderstanding.
What makes more sense?
A. "while booted into the non-daily mainline kernel"
B. "not a daily mainline kernel"
C. "an Ubuntu kernel that is a mainline and not a daily"
Answer? A and B are confusing.
Grammatically in English everything after "non" can be interpreted as a
negitive.
*** Ubuntu is an international project where "non-english reading people"
don't read the way you read. See how that phrase can read?
C is the better option for clarity.
The documentation is meant for people reporting.
I was a Computer Science major and have a degree.
I specifically chose a non-mainline kernel because it was unclear.
Also, why not create a script/program that does the stuff you need,
the way you want it. Instead of making other people try and figure it out.
Like a direct alias/link to the debugging kernel that should be used.
Christopher M. Penalver (penalvch):
>Also, when anyone says mainline kernel for
> the purposes of debugging, it is as defined in the article.
There was confusion on what kernel to use from reading the all the articles and wikis.
Please see the syntax structure as described above.
