Not able to run that comment anymore. Working on Ubuntu 10.04.4. See the
links, more users with different types of hardware experience the same

  I recognize the problem over here https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1047483 on a Packard Bell Easynote TK36-AV-105.

  This laptop also contains a Integrated Intel GMA4500.

  The black screen first appears in Ubuntu 11.04 and all verions
  released since 11.04 (kernel 3.x?). There is a visual with bootoption
  nomodeset.
