I forgot to say that the problem was there from the first boot. Only kernel versions higher than 4.6 can suspend, but flickering and intel display driver bug is present in all versions.


** Description changed:

  Lenovo B51 with Ubuntu Mate 16.04, fresh and up to date installed. The
  system fails to suspend from any known method (dm menu, session menu,
  pm-suspend). Hard reset required after every  attempt.
  
  This bug also affects Lenovo G50 series - Kubuntu 16.04
  
  This bug is easily replicable all the time.
