[Bug 1222070] Re: Kernel Panic --not syncing fatal exception in interrupt
Although the last few updates in Raring introduced system freezes, I
can't say they were LIRC/Atheros related. They seemed to be related to
un/mounting of USB pendrives, but I didn't bother to stick around. I
upgraded to avoid the problem altogether.
I can say the first I recognized the kernel panic at hand was in Saucy.

Title:
Kernel Panic --not syncing fatal exception in interrupt
Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
Using the infrared remote control results in a kernel panic. This is
reproducible using mplayer. I expect to use the infrared remote
successfully, without resulting in a kernel panic. Audio loops like a
scratched record, computer hard locks so that the keyboard becomes
entirely unresponsive: no escaping to a tty, keyboard capslock doesn't
light up, screen goes to tty1 and outputs "Kernel Panic --not syncing
fatal exception in interrupt", and SysRq-cntrl-alt-r does not reboot
the computer.
WORKAROUND: sudo rmmod ath5k
Don't use the remote
