[Bug 1574211] Re: The "nolapic" boot option causes a kernel panic
I tested the mainline kernel 4.6.0-040600rc7, and the problem does not
occur with this version. I also tested 4.4.10-040410, in which the
problem did occur. It seems that the problem is indeed fixed in the
upstream 4.6 kernel series, but not in 4.4.
** Tags added: kernel-fixed-upstream
** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu)
Status: Incomplete => Confirmed
** Description changed:
The kernel parameter "nolapic" causes an unrecoverable kernel panic with
the 4.4.0-21 kernel in Xenial (16.04). I've verified this on two
different machines. The 4.2.0-36 kernel from 15.10 boots without
problems, with the same options. The kernel-logs contain no information
on the failed boot attempts.
