[Bug 1584929] Re: Slow Audio Playback through DisplayPort monitor
Did this issue start happening after an update/upgrade? Was there a
prior kernel version where you were not having this particular problem?
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v4.6 kernel[0].
If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.
If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as
"Confirmed".
Thanks in advance.

Title:
Slow Audio Playback through DisplayPort monitor
Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
I have a Dell XPS 13 (9343) hooked up to a Dell U2515H Monitor running
16.04 (clean install around beta) and connected to the monitor via
3.5mm stereo out I have a pair of Logitech speakers. When I hotplug
the monitor to my laptop and try to play audio through "HDMI" the
audio plays at what seems to be half speed.
The source of the audio does not matter (local audio/video, internet
audio/video stream etc) but if the laptop is rebooted with the monitor
connected, the problem does not manifest. Playing audio through the
internet laptop speakers with any setup seems to work fine, as does
playing audio through the laptop headphone jack.
