[Bug 1566302] Re: Ubuntu 16.04: Suspend freezes the system after upgrade to linux image 4.4.0-16
This bug report is a collection of important information for anyone
interested in fixing the problem. It summarizes under which
circumstances and on which hardware the bug occurs, and what Kernel
versions might fix it. It is a cry of help from users who would like to
use Ubuntu but can't do so because of hardware problems.
>From a bureaucratic and formalistic point of view, it may be correct
that the bug report is not correctly assigned here.
However, a lot of Ubuntu users spent time and energy to explain under
which conditions this bug happens, and they had hope to find someone
willing to fix it. By simply marking this bug as *won't fix*,
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1 will remain forever. This is
the kind of reaction you might expect from software companies which
became too big and important to hear to their users.
Welcome to the Kafka version of Ubuntu, bye bye to Ubuntu for human

Ubuntu 16.04: Suspend freezes the system after upgrade to linux image
Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
I'm using ubuntu 16.04 on a XPS 15 9550.
Suspend/resume worked flawlessly with linux image 4.4.0-15, and after
standard upgrade yesterday (5/04/2016) which installed image 4.4.0-16,
the system freezes when attempting a suspend. I get no response from
the system (nor keyboard, nor screen, nor touchpad), but it gets very
hot, so that it must be running something.
Booting with 4.4.0-15 makes the suspend to work perfectly.
