P.S. Before I was going to test the new Kernel, the packages updated to 4.4.0-25-generic, and it seems the issue is fixed.

  USB Mouse randomly adds another press and release click

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  Very recently (in the last week? Possibly after the Compiz update?),
  Ubuntu 16.04 AMD64 (the version), will randomly add another quick
  mouse click after I physically click the left Mouse Button. I used
  xinput to verify this is happening, and it is. This happens on two
  different mice I tested, and does not happen with the Track Pad. Any
  suggestions?
