regarding this being fixed with an update. For future reference you can

My touchpad works, but it's not detected under System > Preferences >
Mouse.
I followed https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SynapticsTouchpad and
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingTouchpadDetection and am now
reporting this bug as a result.
