Message #19572
[Bug 1188351] Re: CVE-2013-2140
** Description changed:
- The bug is that if a system admin provides a disk (which supports the
- discard aka TRIM or SCSI UNMAP) to a guest as read-only - there are no
- checks done. Which means that the OS can destroy the data.
+ The dispatch_discard_io function in drivers/block/xen-blkback/blkback.c
+ in the Xen blkback implementation in the Linux kernel before 3.10.5
+ allows guest OS users to cause a denial of service (data loss) via
+ filesystem write operations on a read-only disk that supports the (1)
+ BLKIF_OP_DISCARD (aka discard or TRIM) or (2) SCSI UNMAP feature.
Break-Fix: b3cb0d6adc4bbc70b5e37e49a6068e973545ead7
