[Bug 1234413] Re: Display driver is malfunctioning for Ubuntu 13.10 VMs on Hyper-V Server 2008R2
It appears that this is not a problem for Ubuntu 13.10 server as the
installation mode is primarily text based. However, Microsoft will still
like to get this fix included as it seems that people install Ubuntu
client as well on a regular basis (See bug
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1199345).

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
Hi folks,
We noticed that when a Ubuntu 13.10 VM is created on Windows Server
2008 R2, the graphical output is corrupted. The situation is so grave
that one cannot even install Ubuntu 13.10 on Windows Server 2008R2.
The patch below fixes the problem so please include it:
https://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/2974481/
I have also attached the patch. Please let us know if you need more
information.
Thanks,
Abhishek
