[Bug 1234662] Re: Ubuntu-lts-3.8.0 kernels corrupt ext[234] filesystems with 1k block size in Xen guests

Do you recall what specific version of 3.8 you used? The current
version, 3.8.0-32 does not allow a clean cherry-pick. It was dropped
from upstream stable 3.8 because of all the changes required to back
port it.

One other note, the 3.8 kernel is not an LTS release. The 3.2 kernel is
the last LTS release, which ships with 12.04(Precise).

Title:
Ubuntu-lts-3.8.0 kernels corrupt ext[234] filesystems with 1k block
  size in Xen guests

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
We observed a problem with a Postfix database file created by postmap becoming corrupted in a Xen guest when the file was on an ext4 filesystem with a 1kb block size. This was reported to the linux-ext4 list in http://marc.info/?t=138018028300003&r=1&w=2. The subsequent investigation identified the git commit 7b2b160da7661bb2ade3f924b1bd3e3084e53341 as solving the problem. We have applied this on top of tag Ubuntu-lts-3.8.0-13.22 and confirmed that it resolves the problem we are seeing.
