Title:
xorg does not work with nVidia Vanta after kernel 2.6.32-30

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
After upgrade from linux-image-2.6.32-30-generic to linux-image-2.6.32-34-generic, Xorg displays decidedly pathological behaviour:
  * The GDM login does not display a functional chooser (empty chooser pane displayed)
  * Mouse pointer images are not cleaned on moving the mouse, leaving a pointer trail
  * After blind login, no widgets display properly

This behaviour is only seen on one machine which has a nVidia Vanta graphics card. Two other machines with the same kernel and Xorg install, but different cards and drivers show no problem. (Because of the non-functionality of rendering menus etc, it is not possible to get a screen grab) Xorg logs from Vanta machine are attached concatenated:
Functional xorg instance Xorg.0.log (running 2.6.32-30)
Non-functional xorg instance Xorg.0.log (running 2.6.32-35, no example for 2.6.32-34 but can be provided)
