You may need to run the following:
sudo apt-get install -f
sudo apt-get clean
sudo apt-get update
Then re-install the package.

Title:
package linux-image-3.2.0-54-generic 3.2.0-54.82 failed to
install/upgrade: ErrorMessage: subprocess installed post-installation
script returned error exit status 1
Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
I started by installing ubuntu 10.04 and upgraded to 12.04, the
install was going ok till this point their were no indicators of any
issue. I have tried to run ubuntu-bug linux (apport is not an official
ubuntu package.)
Both of the other commands listed have no affect.
1) cat /proc/version_signature > version.log
2) sudo lspci -vnvn > lspci-vnvn.log
I cannot uninstall any 3rd party packages as instructed, as the right click to copy-paste is nothing but "squares" unreadable.
if this report gets to you, i will try to run the commands on reboot. If it boots.
