  f2 key for wireless not working

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  The f2 key to enable wireless is not working. Im using ubuntu 11.10.
  The wireless is switched off and is showing disabled by hardware
  switch. It refuses to start. Bug has been previously solved at
  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/697520 . i am not
  understanding the solution of the bug and how to install the patch.
