I don't have as much luck as you do even following the same steps. It's
worth noting that getting to the GRUB menu is easy using Legacy or UEFI.
But the Ubuntu boot fails after that. Stuck in the BusyBox shell.

Yes, the machine still has raring installed (booted as Legacy because
UEFI never really worked at least in the old BIOS). And the raring
install images boot perfectly well. The only issue is with saucy images.
I wonder if I can test trusty soon?
