** Description changed:

- Hi,
+ The problem is the trackpad is not working at all with clean install
+ 12.04, 13.04, and 13.10.

- this bug has been since 12.04. The problem is, trackpad is not working
- at all with clean install (at least in 12.04, 13.04, 13.10).
+ WORKAROUND: open a terminal and run:
+ sudo gedit /etc/default/grub

- This solves the problem (solution found from here:
- -quantal-quetzal-on-fujitsu-lifebook-uh572/s )
+ find the line containing: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX and add:
+ i8042.notimeout i8042.nomux

- 1. open a terminal (Ctrl-Alt-T)
- 2. run
- $ sudo gedit /etc/default/grub (or your favourite editor - I prefer "vim")
- 3. find the line containing: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX
- 4. add "i8042.notimeout i8042.nomux" to the string in quotes
- 5. save and exit
- 6. run
- $ sudo update-grub
- 7. reboot
- ---
+ save, exit, and run:
+ sudo update-grub && sudo reboot now
+
