[Bug 1241871] Re: 13.10 kernels (3.11.x) Fail to light up certain intel backlights
Bug has been resolved as of today in linux-git, will be backported to
linux-stable, hopefully this can make it into a mainline ubuntu kernel
but... how can we fix the install ISO?

Bug has been ongoing since 3.10-rc6
Certain UEFI laptops incorrectly report their BPP on their display,
causing kernel modesetting to fail

Developers have refused to quirk the regression, causing no display on
a a large number of systems.
Upgraded installations will boot with no display, and the installer will have no display.
