[Bug 967907] Re: ACPI Error: Method parse/execution

Louis, as per
http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/X79%20Extreme4/?cat=Download&os=BIOS an
update is available for your BIOS (3.40). If you update to this
following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BiosUpdate , does it change
anything?

If not, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful.

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.

Thank you for your understanding.

Title:
  ACPI Error: Method parse/execution

Status in The Linux Kernel:
  Fix Released
Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Mar 27 18:52:52 b12 kernel: [ 1.428600] ACPI Error: [\TST0] Namespace lookup failure, AE_NOT_FOUND (20110413/psargs-359)
  Mar 27 18:52:52 b12 kernel: [ 1.428604] ACPI Error: Method parse/execution failed [\_SB_.SCK0.CP07._TPC] (Node ffff88042712d140), AE_NOT_FOUND (20110413/psparse-536)

I've experienced many random hangs of the system and tried to fix many
things sine I installed Ubuntu on my new 12-threads, 6-cores
  machine...

  I updated the bios
  I tried different video drivers
  I tried different kernels

Seems (not 100% sure) that using acpi=off solves the problem, but I
end up with only 6 threads, which is not desired!

Seems that with my current kernel it doesn't freeze anymore (not 100%
  sure yet)...

FInally, the ACPI errors seen in my attached kern.log are alway
present with all the kernels I tried!

Hopefully my info will help solve this issue.
