Unfortunately I do not have the laptop anymore. I sold it.
Can anyone else test the BIOS upgrade?

Bug description:
  The Linux kernel (on Ubuntu 11.04) crashes randomly. It may be a
  hardware failure because this laptop (Fujitsu Siemens AMILO Li 1718
  laptop) is rather old.
