Title:
Please backport ALSA 1.0.25 for Lucid
Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
Won't Fix
Bug description:
We have several HP 635 notebooks running Lucid. We cannot update to a more recent version of Ubuntu due to available software.
Sound does not work with these notebooks out of the box.
I was very happy to find that there's a backport of recent ALSA drivers for Lucid:
linux-backports-modules-alsa-lucid-generic
This backports ALSA 1.0.23. With this version, there is sound on the
HP 635, but it is very unstable: The driver crashes after a few
seconds when trying to record. (I.e., output seems to be working, but
not input).
I have manually compiled ALSA 1.0.25, and this driver works stable on
the HP 635 without crashing. (I have it recording for approx. 30
minutes now). However, I'm not well versed in compiling kernel
modules, and do not know how to provide a backport package.
Could the maintainers of
linux-backports-modules-alsa-lucid-generic
provide a packport of ALSA 1.0.25 as a *.deb package for Lucid?
