Hello Thomas,

you can collect these necessary system information on a off-line machine by following:

Also, you can hold the shift key during boot to switch back to 3.2.0-54 kernel
http://askubuntu.com/questions/92672/how-can-i-bring-up-the-grub-menu

Please attach the necessary logs, and give the 3.12-rc6 kernel a try.
(You can remove them later)
Then change the bug status from Incomplete to Confirmed
(Or this bug will be expired.)

Title:
  RT3290 12.04 new kernel

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  The  problem dates on 22. oct 2013 Linux Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 64 Bit
  - Update to Kernel 3.2.0-55
  - rebboot and WLAN function gone
  the last Kernel 3.2.0-54 was no problem with the Ralink Corp RT3290 Wireless 802.11 n 
  lspci still shows the chip
  iwconfig shows no wireless extentions 

  The Ralink is in many HP Notebooks like the HP 655
