Bug description:
The problem is the trackpad is not working at all with clean install
12.04, 13.04, and 13.10.
WORKAROUND: open a terminal and run:
sudo gedit /etc/default/grub
find the line containing: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX and add:
i8042.notimeout i8042.nomux
save, exit, and run:
sudo update-grub && sudo reboot now
