Re: [Bug 1256599] Re: constant polling of USB floppy drive, independent of distro

I've seen it in 13.04 and 13.10. Since it also occurs with openSUSE
13.1, I tend to think it's a kernel bug which may be upstream from Debian.

Title:
constant polling of USB floppy drive, independent of distro

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Ubuntu 3.11.0-13.20-generic 3.11.6

Tested on 2 separate machines, one running Xubuntu 13.10 and the other
openSUSE 13.1. No disk is in, yet the drive constantly spins and makes
a dull sound every few seconds like it's moving resetting the drive
head position. After a disk is inserted and the initial read takes
place, this constant polling behavior stops. It only occurs when there
is no disk in the drive.
