senpaji, as this bug is marked Fix Released, it does not cover your problem. So your hardware may be tracked, could you please file a new report by executing the following in a terminal while booted into a Ubuntu repository kernel (not a mainline one) via:
ubuntu-bug linux

  7392:7811 Edimax EW-7811Un USB dongle won't connect to networks
  (rtl8192cu module)

Bug description:
  The networks around are visible, but when trying to connect, the NM
  repeatedly asks for the password. Connecting to an open network fails
  as well.
