I tested today with Ubuntu 12.04 with all updates with onboard ethernet
on two different Intel mainboard DH61BE. The problem is still there!

  8086:1502 [Lenovo ThinkPad W520] e1000e reconnecting in 12.04

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  The Intel e1000e kernel NIC driver is constantly reconnecting to my
  network causing flowstops and errors. I do not know in which exact
  kernel the problem started since I do not use this laptop wired
  regularly. Firstly I suspected faulty networking equipment, but the
  problem persisted on other hardware.

  WORKAROUND: Fetch driver directly from Intel:
