[Bug 1025283] Re: [Dell Precision T7600] LiveCD/USB will not boot in UEFI mode
Douglas Russell, as per http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/Product/precision-t7600 an update is available for your BIOS (A10). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BiosUpdate , does it change anything? If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
Thank you for your understanding.

** Description changed:
- I tried to boot from the LiveCD in UEFI mode as I wished to install my
- UEFI capable workstation in UEFI + GPT mode.
-
- If I boot in legacy mode, it boots up without a problem but of course,
- does not allow me to install in UEFI mode.
-
- I get the following error over and over:
-
- udevd[114]: timeout: killing `/sbin/modprobe -bv
- pci:v00001000d00000073sv00001028sd00001F78bc01sc04i00' [182]
+ I tried to boot from the LiveCD in UEFI mode as I wished to install my UEFI capable workstation in UEFI + GPT mode. If I boot in legacy mode, it boots up without a problem but of course, does not allow me to install in UEFI mode. Seems to perhaps indicate that the disk controller is having a problem. It's a Dell PERC H310. I get the following error over and over:
+ udevd[114]: timeout: killing `/sbin/modprobe -bv pci:v00001000d00000073sv00001028sd00001F78bc01sc04i00' [182]
Then finally:
+ udevadm settle - timeout of 120 seconds reached, the event queue contains:
+ /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:03.0/0000:06:00.0 (1588)
+ /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:03.0/0000:06:00.0/host6 (1588)
+ /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:03.0/0000:06:00.0/host6/scsi_host/host6 (1588)
- udevadm settle - timeout of 120 seconds reached, the event queue contains:
- /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:03.0/0000:06:00.0 (1588)
- /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:03.0/0000:06:00.0/host6 (1588)
- /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:03.0/0000:06:00.0/host6/scsi_host/host6 (1588)
+ WORKAROUND: It boots up in legacy BIOS mode fine.
- Seems to perhaps indicate that the disk controller is having a problem.
- It's a Dell PERC H310. Seems strange given that it boots up in legacy
- BIOS mode fine.
-
- I'm attaching a lspci -v.
-
- I can provide whatever additional information is required.
-
- Thanks
