Message #34739
[Bug 577183] Re: keyboard and/or mouse freezing
Andrew Linux, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an
issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development
release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .
If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:
apport-collect -p linux <replace-with-bug-number>
Also, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available (not the daily folder) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER
where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For example:
kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.13-rc4
This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing
If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER
As well, please remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's
Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Thank you for your
understanding.

Title:
keyboard and/or mouse freezing
Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
Ubuntu 10.04
This bug does not occur all of the time and it makes it usually appears at the GNOME login screen.
Sometimes at the login screen, when I click on my username, the keyboard will freeze and I will not be able to input anything through the keyboard, or the first or second letter that I type will endlessly repeat itself as though I have my finger on the keyboard. In other instances, when I click on my username and start entering my password, the mouse will freeze.
Other times, the keyboard or mouse will freeze after I have logged in.
Sometimes the system will have operated fine for over an hour and then
suddenly the mouse no longer responds or the keyboard freezes or
starts repeating a keystroke. If I have already logged in, sometimes
BOTH the mouse and keyboard will freeze so that I can't do anything
other than hit the reset button.
My mouse is plugged into a USB port, but using an adapter to plug it
into the PS/2 plug does not rectify the problem.
The problem appears to repeat consistently if my Epson CX8400 printer
is turned on at start-up. It is plugged into a USB port. I have
noticed that if I turn the printer on after logging in, Ubuntu will
not detect the printer, but leaving it on while starting up simply
leads to freezing.
I am using an Asus P4S800 motherboard.
Mouse and keyboard freezing at login occurred consistently (almost
every login attempt) prior to changing from the default display
manager to the NVIDIA display manager.
Keyboard freezing does not occur in GRUB.
If I start Ubuntu 10.04 in recovery mode and use "gdm" to get to the login screen, freezing does not appear.
