Message #35019
[Bug 1245327] Re: [Acer Aspire 5750-9668] Laptop shuts down immediately when the power cord is adjusted or power button pressed despite set otherwise
While this is inconvenient, there are bigger fish to fry, and the
WORKAROUND is just be very careful in not hitting the power cord.
** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu)
Importance: Medium => Low
** Description changed:
What is expected to happen is when one adjusts the power cord slightly
is the computer doesn't shutdown.
What happens instead is looks like it received a shutdown event.
Previously, when I was using Raring with an HDD i386, a message would
pop up asking if I wanted to shutdown, which I didn't. However, now that
I'm using an SSD, it just immediately starts shutting down without my
being able to either prevent the event altogether, or say no. This also
occurs when pressing the power button.
This is despite having the following set:
Applications Menu -> Settings Manager -> Power Manager -> General ->
When power button is pressed: Ask
When power button is pressed: Do nothing
+
+ WORKAROUND: Don't click the Power button or jiggle the point where the
+ power cord meets the board.
