Title:
multiple scancodes for special keys on Acer P453-MG
Status in The Linux Mint Distribution:
New
Bug description:
On my new Acer TravelMate P453-MG notebook the special keys (euro-key, dollar-key) are not working. According to "https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Hotkeys/Troubleshooting" this is a bug of type 4b, i.e. too many keypress events for a key. I cannot find why/where this happens because of a lack knowledge. When I hit one of these keys I expect to get just one scancode/keycode.
Pls give some hints on how to narrow it down.
What happens:
"sudo showkey -s" returns
"^[[2;3~^[[4~^[[1;3B^[[1;3A0x38 0x52 0xd2 0x4f 0xcf 0x50 0xd0 0x48 0xc8 0xb8" for the euro-key and
"^[[2;3~^[[2;3~^[[6;3~^[[1;3C0x38 0x52 0xd2 0x52 0xd2 0x51 0xd1 0x4d 0xcd 0xb8" for the dollar-key.
"sudo /lib/udev/keymap -i /dev/input/event4"
"scan code: 0x38 key code: leftalt
scan code: 0x52 key code: kp0
scan code: 0x4F key code: kp1
scan code: 0x50 key code: kp2
scan code: 0x48 key code: kp8" for the euro-key and
"scan code: 0x38 key code: leftalt
scan code: 0x52 key code: kp0
scan code: 0x52 key code: kp0
scan code: 0x51 key code: kp3
scan code: 0x4D key code: kp6" for the dollar-key.
BIOS is up to date. OS is up to date.
This is repeatable on ubuntu 12.4(liveCD), 12.10, 13.4(liveCD).
Sorry, I dont know how to find the affected package (and its version).
thank you
Christian
