Title:
  CIFS plaintext/lanman authentification

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: linux
  System info:
  linux
    Installed: 2.6.24.24.26
  Description: Ubuntu 8.04.3 LTS
  Release: 8.04

  # uname -a
  Linux mercure 2.6.24-24-generic #1 SMP Tue Aug 18 17:04:53 UTC 2009 i686 GNU/Linux

Following the bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/202445 ("Please enable CONFIG_CIFS_WEAK_PW_HASH for hardy"), please apply theses two patch to CIFS module for re-enabling lanman auth:
[CIFS] Turn off Unicode during session establishment for plaintext authentication ( http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux-2.6.git;a=commit;h=c76da9da1fffa6de263486df54950eb328d58f71 )
  [CIFS] Fix plaintext authentication ( http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux-2.6.git;a=commit;h=bcc55c6664a90146149ba0fd93052adc94287b9f ).
Since SMBFS module has been remplaced by CIFS, we can't mount old Samba share that use lanman/plaintext auth (error 13 in each try).
With theses 2 patches applied to cifs module, a recompilation and good settings set in /proc/fs/cifs/SecurityFlags, we can get it working.
