[Bug 1249979] Re: r8169 Ethernet driver doesn't work

Cocodude, thank you for your comments. Regarding them :

>"However, is Invalid the correct status considering it is a valid bug
report?"

Yes.

>" It just happens to be fixed upstream."

if it's fixed in Trusty, it's fixed downstream as well.

>"I guess if you don't have any other suitable statuses it's fine, but I
can see this being confusing to anyone else searching for this."

The Status Fix Released would be more appropriate if the specific fix
with accompanying change log is provided. We don't have this in this
case.

Hence, this bug report is being closed due to your last comment

Title:
  r8169 Ethernet driver doesn't work

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
Following an upgrade from 13.04 to 13.10, gigabit card stopped working
(100Mbps ethernet working fine on the motherboard still - KN9 Ultra).

  dmesg gives a load of warnings "r8169 0000:01:0a.0 eth0:
  rtl_phyar_cond == 0 (loop: 20, delay: 25)." and when rmmodding r8169
  and modprobing it, I get:

  [ 125.198865] r8169 Gigabit Ethernet driver 2.3LK-NAPI loaded
  [ 125.199151] r8169 0000:01:0a.0 (unregistered net_device): not PCI Express
  [ 125.199669] r8169 0000:01:0a.0 eth0: RTL8169sb/8110sb at 0xffffc90000c5a000, 00:21:27:c9:5f:cf, XID 10000000 IRQ 18
  [ 125.199677] r8169 0000:01:0a.0 eth0: jumbo features [frames: 7152 bytes, tx checksumming: ok]
  [ 125.231623] r8169 0000:01:0a.0 eth0: link down
  [ 125.233790] IPv6: ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): eth0: link is not ready
  [ 125.240366] IPv6: ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): eth0: link is not ready

Plugging out and then in the cable makes no difference.
