[Bug 974364] Re: CONFIG_NFS_USE_NEW_IDMAPPER is unset in ubuntu kernel config, this causes nfs4 id-mapping to fail

Christian Diefanbach, given that the original report premise didn't address the issue:
CONFIG_NFS_USE_NEW_IDMAPPER is unset in ubuntu kernel config, this causes nfs4 id-mapping to fail

and how this would appear to be an unfamiliarity of NFS vs. a bug in it.

For more on NFS, one may consult:

Title:
CONFIG_NFS_USE_NEW_IDMAPPER is unset in ubuntu kernel config, this
  causes nfs4 id-mapping to fail

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
I'm trying to set up nfs4 with static id-mapping. This so far has
failed because of an unset configuration option in the default ubuntu
  kernel.

  Symptoms:

nfs4 user and group ids are not mapped correctly between client and
  server.

  I'm running this kernel:
