[Bug 1013178] Re: 17e9:0378 general protection fault: 000 [#1] SMP; 0010:[<ffffffff8112bcfd>] [<ffffffff8112bcfd>] isolate_lru_pages_53+0xed/0x3e0
chet, as per http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1478 an update is available for your BIOS (MB71.0039.B0E). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BiosUpdate , does it change anything? If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and just provide the output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful.
For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.
Thank you for your understanding.

Title:
17e9:0378 general protection fault: 000 [#1] SMP;
0010:[<ffffffff8112bcfd>] [<ffffffff8112bcfd>]
isolate_lru_pages_53+0xed/0x3e0
Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
Using the a usb to dvi adapter of type dl195 and under certain system
loads will cause a kernel panic. For example, usually restarting
lightdm with the above configure and the modules loaded will usually
cause the panic. Also if one is in a high memory usage load the panic
will also happen (for me with eclipse and a virtual machine running)
If the adapter and monitor are not configured or attached the same
actions will not cause the panic.
