[Bug 1264057] Re: Problems: Xubuntu 13.10- 64 bit / Notebook Asus N750JV-T4069H

aljosa, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu.
Unfortunately, you have placed too many problems in one bug report.
Hence, this bug report will only focus one of the issues you mentioned:

- CPU stuck at 800MHz, with and without microcode.ctl / intel-microcode
(works fine -2400MHz- with Xubuntu 14.04 LTS 64 bit / Kernel
v3.12.5-trusty

For more on this, please read the official Ubuntu documentation:
Ubuntu Bug Control and Ubuntu Bug Squad: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/BestPractices#X.2BAC8-Reporting.Focus_on_One_Issue
Ubuntu Kernel Team: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeam/KernelTeamBugPolicies#Filing_Kernel_Bug_reports
Ubuntu Community: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette

Hence, I'll streamline your Bug Description to reflect this.

Regarding the rest of your issues, please file one bug report per issue if not a duplicate already filed:
1)gran_size: 2G chunk_size: 2G num_reg: 3 lose cover RAM: 1966M mtrr_cleanup: can not find optimal value please specify mtrr_gran_size/mtrr_chunk_size

If this would be considered a bug, execute at a terminal:
ubuntu-bug linux

2) Power manager is set to reduce display brightnes to 20% after 120
seconds of inactivity, but nothing happens

The scope of this issue (with WORKAROUND) is already covered in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xfce4-power-manager/+bug/1222021
 .

3) Power Adapter shows not connected (works fine in liveCD)

Has a userspace component:
ubuntu-bug xfce4-indicator-plugin

4) No keyboard backlightng FN (F3) Decreases keyboard backlighting FN
(F4) Increases keyboard backlighting (I can turn on keyboard backlight
with  sudo chmod 777 /sys/class/leds/asus::kbd_backlight/brightness
echo 3 > /sys/class/leds/asus::kbd_backlight/brightness  but effect is
lost after turning the computer off and on again).

Please see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Hotkeys/Troubleshooting .

5) FN (F9) Enables or disables the touchpad

Please see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Hotkeys/Troubleshooting .

6) FN (F5) Decreases display brightness FN (F6) Increases display
brightness (I can adjust brightness only through system tray icon xfce4
-panel-plugin-brightness)

Please see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Hotkeys/Troubleshooting .

7) FN (F2) Turns Airplane mode on or off

Please see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Hotkeys/Troubleshooting .

8) FN (F1) Notebook returns from sleep mode with broken screen and
strange vertical colour lines

Please see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Hotkeys/Troubleshooting and
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKernelSuspend .

Regarding the issue for this report:
- CPU stuck at 800MHz, with and without microcode.ctl / intel-microcode (works fine -2400MHz- with Xubuntu 14.04 LTS 64 bit / Kernel v3.12.5-trusty

Could you please advise in greater detail how is the CPU stuck at 800MHZ
(ex. by default in the live environment, by default from fresh install,
etc.)?
