[Bug 1190482] Re: [Dell Vostro 2420] Internal speaker does not show up in "Sound settings"

Po-Hsu Lin as per your https://launchpadlibrarian.net/142301498/BootDmesg.txt :
[ 0.232695] [Firmware Bug]: ACPI: BIOS _OSI(Linux) query ignored

Hence, as per http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/Product/vostro-2420 an update is available for your BIOS (A11). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BiosUpdate , does it change anything? If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and just provide the output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

Thank you for your understanding.

** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu)
       Status: Confirmed => Incomplete

Title:
  [Dell Vostro 2420] Internal speaker does not show up in "Sound
  settings"

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  CID: 201202-10592

  This is a SRU system which is running 12.10 (3.5.0-34-generic
  #55-Ubuntu)

  The internal speaker does not show up in "Sound settings"
  But I can still play sound through the internal speaker normally (like pressing the volume button)
  And if you connect a headset to it, there will be a "Headphones" option available in the "Play sound through" list
