[Bug 1152580] Re: BCM95720 Network disconnects and resets with new Dell R520 server
David Peall, as per your https://launchpadlibrarian.net/133336555/BootDmesg.txt :
[ 0.026147] ------------[ cut here ]------------
[ 0.026153] WARNING: at /build/buildd/linux-3.2.0/drivers/iommu/intr_remapping.c:558 enable_intr_remapping+0x77/0x1ab()
[ 0.026157] Hardware name: PowerEdge R520
[ 0.026160] Your BIOS is broken and requested that x2apic be disabled
[ 0.026160] This will leave your machine vulnerable to irq-injection attacks
[ 0.026161] Use 'intremap=no_x2apic_optout' to override BIOS request
...

Hence, as per www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/Product/poweredge-m520 an update is available for your BIOS (2.0.23). During your maintenance window, if you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BiosUpdate , does it change anything? If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and just provide the output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
