maxstevens, thank you for your comment. As this issue is resolved for the original reporter, and is closed Invalid, this report does not cover your problem. Despite this, if you have a bug in Ubuntu, please feel free to file a new report with Ubuntu by executing the following in a terminal while booted into a Ubuntu repository kernel (not a mainline one) via:
ubuntu-bug linux

Bug description:
I'm having an issue booting 13.04. I did a search on the forum but
nothing popped up. Basically, it installs fine but upon a reboot into
the installation I get a kernel panic: not syncing: Attempted to kill
exitcode=0x00000009.
