Title:
10de:0647 [MacBookPro5,3] Hang during boot with nouveau unless
xforcevesa specified
Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
Lucid fails to boot with nouveau on "nvidia 9600M GT" on
MacBookPro5,3. I am using yesterday's daily livecd.
- Removed "quiet splash" and process hangs with a message about
"PRAMIN flush timeout." CTRL+ALT+DEL does not reboot.
- Added nomodeset, system seems to finish upstart's tasks, ureadahead
outputs a message about exiting with status 4, but no VTY or X.
CTRL+ALT+DEL does not reboot.
WORKAROUND: Added xforcevesa (and nomodeset). I now get both X and
VTYs. Everything works as expected. It would be nice if nouveau could
not support this card that it be blacklisted and fall back to vesa.
