[Bug 555131] Re: Kernel 2.6.32-19 ignores lid status

Johannes Langlotz, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't
been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an
issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development
release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xorg-server REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Thank you for your understanding.

Title:
  Kernel 2.6.32-19 ignores lid status

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: linux-image

Kernel 2.6.32-19 ignores the lid status which is bad if you use your
notebook with a docking station and an external display. Kernel
2.6.32-18 or older and the mainline kernels handle a closed laptop lid
like a disconnected LVDS display. Since kernel 2.6.32-19 lucid boots
up with a wrong diplay resolution because both displays a switched on
even if the lid is closed. The displays are mirrored and switched to
1152x864 instead of their native resolutions. This leads to a blurry
  and warped GDM.
