Title:
laptop doesn't power off or suspend, but it does after waking up from
  a hibernation

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
Like the title says, my laptop doesn't power off when I try to
shutdown. It neither suspends. However, if I hibernate the computer
and start it again, it does shutdown and suspend; and after a reboot,
  it is again not working.

Attached some information you may need.

P.S.: I am currently using Ubuntu 9.04 beta, and this problem also
exists on other previous Ubuntu distributions.

  hearson@hearson-laptop:~$ uname -a
  Linux hearson-laptop 2.6.28-11-generic #38-Ubuntu SMP Fri Mar 27 09:00:52 UTC 2009 i686 GNU/Linux

About the attachment: "before" is the files before I hibernating my
laptop, and "after" is the files after I waking up my laptop.
