[Bug 119730] Re: Slow SATA performance

Hi,

I found this bug is similar to mine (it hurts i386 only). Here is my workaround:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1264707/comments/18 .

Please try it and comment if it works for you.

Title:
  Slow SATA performance

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Hi

This issue has been discussed over at
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=447474, and seems to affect a
  number of us.

File copy speed is very slow (roughly 5-10MBps) on SATA hard drives.
Copying within the same physical drive is just as slow as copying to
another physical drive. The issue occurs with GUI tools (Nautilus,
Krusader) as well as at the terminal using the CP command. This has
occured since upgrading to Feisty; Edgy was fine.
