Re: [Bug 675127] Re: Firefox crashes on startup

Dear Christopher M. Penalver,

I cannot find this bug 675127 on launchpad any more. Anyway, it has no
longer been a problem for quite some time now (a year or two). I am
running the newest version of kubuntu.

It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. Title:
  Firefox crashes on startup

Status in NULL Project:
  Invalid
Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
I have had a problem for over a year that the system freezes from
time to time. This has appeared in the three last distributions (9.10,
10.4, 10.10). I have all the time suspected problems with the graphics
driver, but not been able to trace the exact reason. "Freeze" means
that there is no reaction to the mouse or keyboard, and I have to shut
it down by pressing the power button. Lately it has started to freeze
after logging in from the graphics window within 30 seconds.

Today I traced the problem to Firefox: After I renamed my .kde the
system became stable. Typically I have not close down Firefox before
logging out, and kde automatically started up Firefox as soon as I
  logged in.

Now the system is stable if I do not start up Firefox. When I start
  up Firefox it freezes.
