The modules build by the open-vm-tools-dkms package require symbols from
drivers/misc/vmw_vmci/vmw_vmci.ko which is currently shipped in the
extra.  These are the insmod errors from the dkms modules, the symbols
are provided by vmw_vmci.ko:

Bug description:
  drivers/misc/vmw_vmci/vmw_vmci.ko is currently in linux-image-extra.
  Due to a sync of open-vm-tools and an open MIR on open-vm-tools, this
  module is needed in the regular kernel
