Title:
[MacBook7,1] System randomly fails to shut down
Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
Expired
Bug description:
Update: It seems like this happens only when multiple users are logged
in, and the problem stil exists in the 3.9.0 Mainline kernel.
When trying to power off or reboot the system, I get this output from the terminal (reconstructed from memory):
* Asking all remaining services to terminate... [OK]
* Kiling all remaining processes... [FAIL]
* Switching to single-user mode...
It then drops to a root shell. When I try to reboot or shutdown from
there, I get the same error. I have to do a hard shutdown and then
power the computer on again. Sometimes it fails to boot without any
output (it gets stuck on a blinking underscore in the upper left
corner.
EXPECTED BEHAVIOUR
When attempting to reboot or shut down with multiple users logged in, I would expect a warning about their programs being closed. After accepting, all users should be logged out and the computer halted.
