Title:
Backlight brightness adjustment and Fn keys do not work on Asus G75VW
series laptop on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
The backlight brightness adjustment through the Brightness and Lock
settings and also through the use of the function keys on the Asus
G75VW model laptop do not function. Changing the brightness with the
slider in the Brightness and Lock settings yields no change in
brightness, and using fn+F5 and fn+F6, which are the buttons used as
hotkeys for brightness adjustment, also produce no change in
  brightness.
