[Bug 1275853] Re: Poor upload ethernet speed in kernel 3.11.0-15-generic and Atheros AR8151 NIC
I tried enabling proposed updates and upgrading to kernel 3.11.0-17-generic (version 3.11.0-17.31) and the bug is not present here and could get good upload speeds repeatedly in tests - ~928 Mbits/sec.
Thanks!

Title:
Poor upload ethernet speed in kernel 3.11.0-15-generic and Atheros
AR8151 NIC
Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
Fix Committed
Bug description:
Hi,
I am experiencing performance problems with ethernet upload since I
upgraded Ubuntu 13.10 to the kernel version 3.11.0-15-generic. I have
a gigabit lan and when uploading to the NAS (Ubuntu server) the speed
is very low - approx 130megabites/s.
This is not present in the previous kernel 3.11.0-12-generic. I tested
this repeatedly several times and also I did a fresh install of the
ubuntu 13.10 - still the same behavior. I tested with copying large
files to mounted nfs share and also with iperf.
Interesting is that after booting Ubuntu 13.10 with kernel
3.11.0-15-generic, the upload speed is fine for a while, then it drops
down and remains low.
See the iperf log (first run immediatelly after boot is fine - upload
speed is 932Mbits/s, then second run 439Mbits/s and then only approx
130Mbits/s ). Note that when testing with kernel 3.11.0-12-generic
iperf will give allways ~930Mbits/s.
