[Bug 1258996] Re: [MSI GE60] Black screen in live cd
I had a blackscreen issue after Grub boot menu when tried to install
Ubuntu 13.10 x64 from LiveCD.
In my case the problem was solved by ENABLING Secure Boot.
I have successfully installed the above OS alongside with pre-installed Windows 8 and now I have dual-boot system.
Other settings:
Intel SpeedStep = DISABLED
Fast Boot = DISABLED
Boot Mode = UEFI
Screenshots with my working CMOS settings can be seen here:

Title:
[MSI GE60] Black screen in live cd
Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
On Msi GE60 and propably other notebooks with powerfull gpu. When you want to install in UEFI/Legacy linux you will get blackscreen. The only workaround is for PC because you can disconnect GPU.
It is impossible to solve this for netbooks(laptops).
It is bug which works also on other distro like Debian etc.
The only distro which works is arch. The bug is connected propably with that GPU is taking too much power and screen freeze. When you chose any opition from live cd.
